How we turn our mission into action, right here in Hampton Roads and beyond
Every program at Tre’s Check the Kidneys Foundation was built with one question in mind: What did our family need that we couldn’t find? The answers became our roadmap.

Educational Outreach

We bring kidney health education directly to families, schools, community organizations, and healthcare settings, in plain language that empowers rather than overwhelms.

Topics include:

  • How kidneys work and why early health habits matter
  • Recognizing warning signs of pediatric kidney conditions
  • Understanding hemihypertrophy and its link to Wilms tumor
  • Childhood cancer awareness — what parents need to know
  • Guidance on when to ask your pediatrician about kidney surveillance

Family Support Initiatives

A diagnosis doesn’t just affect the child, it disrupts the entire family. We provide direct support to families navigating pediatric kidney disease and childhood kidney cancer, designed around what families actually need during the hardest season of their lives.

Support includes:

  • Care packages delivered during active treatment
  • Resource guides for navigating diagnosis, insurance, and next steps
  • Peer support networks — connecting families who've been there with families who are there now
  • Treatment travel assistance for families facing financial strain
  • Family wellness experiences — moments of joy and restoration during a difficult chapter

Awareness Campaigns

We design and launch community campaigns that bring pediatric kidney health into the mainstream conversation, through events, partnerships, social media, and storytelling.
  • Annual awareness events in the Hampton Roads community
  • Social media campaigns tied to Childhood Cancer Awareness Month (September) and Kidney Health Month
  • Partnerships with local pediatric practices to promote surveillance protocols
  • Media outreach — press, podcasts, and community platforms
